I remember the day that God dropped this name to me. Such an odd combination. There I was sitting in my closet and praying. In my spirit I heard, "rubies and wildfires". I had no idea what this meant. Over the past year and a half, up to this point, God had spoken "diamond and sapphire" and other various words that connected to them such as "vibrant", "radiant", "empowered", "reborn", "fashion", etc. But this combination didn't make any sense to me. Not completely. I knew that the ruby was symbolic of passion and a wildfire can be symbolized as unbridled passion as well. It can be for good or for selfish, sensual purposes. I knew that the ruby was the stone for the tribe of Reuben from the Old Testament in the High Priest's breastplate. Our High Priest is Jesus, of course,(Heb 7:26) and the breastplate is symbolic of righteousness.(Eph 6:14) The stones in the breastplate represent the 12 tribes of Israel. In the New Testament we are referred to as "living stones".(1Pet 2:5) We can only be righteous because we are embedded in the breastplate of Christ. We are hidden in Him. All of our sins and failures, all of the times we miss the mark, are covered in His righteousness.
Before I get into a whole other subject, back to rubies and wildfires. I remember exactly where I was. It was a beautiful, summer day and I had decided to go for a walk. I was on the trail walking and talking to God about all that He had been speaking to me. I was right outside our subdivision when I heard Him speak clearly to me. "Remember the diamond? Look! That is why you tattooed it on your arm. So that you would see and remember your true identity and how I see you. Remember the sapphire? Listen! Hear my voice. That is why you bought sapphire earrings. Between your ears is your mind. Renew your mind because it is your mind and thoughts that go down and dwell within your heart. Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Rubies and Wildfires. Action! You are to respond to what I have been showing you. Live it out. Rubies and wildfires is your heart...passions. Be passionate. Run this race with intention and purpose. Let your love for me cause wildfires. Be contagious. Write, speak, and live out of the true living wellspring of life. Lastly, the emerald. Dwell; abide. It is representative of you being in my presence. Seek me. It is worship. Yes, worship me in the way that you live but I also desire an intimate level of worship from you in my presence. In me, you live, move and have your being. You are a jewel in my crown, a precious gemstone tucked into my breastplate. You are rooted and sewn into my righteousness."
That's when I knew that Rubies and Wildfires was actually to become something. It was a title. It wasn't just words for me but they are words for you as well. I know this blog is specifically for those who need to know that they are accepted and loved. A refuge. Not a superficial acceptance but more of a validation. Here is the definition of validation - "affirmation that a person or their feelings or opinions are valid or worthwhile." You are seen and you are heard...you are treasured. I don't know about you but as a woman that is huge for me. I asked God for another word and clearly I heard "beloved". Through Christ you are His...no matter what. "...to the praise of the glory of His grace (Christ), by which He made us accepted in the Beloved." Eph 1:6NKJV (italics are mine)
I leave you with this quote from Lord of the Rings as an intro to Rubies and Wildfires.
"From the ashes a fire will be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be King
Reforge the sword."
